Get to know our trainers: Rae Goodacre
Rae is a level 3 personal trainer at The Health Hub. She is working towards her level 4 strength and conditioning qualification. Rae specialises in crossfit, this involves strength training, gymnastics and functional movements performed at a high intensity! Let’s get to know a little more about Rae!
How did you first get into fitness?
“I was a very sporty kid, did cross country, football and rounders in school! Funny story but one day my sister and mother were booked into an exercise class, earlier that day my sister had forced me to watch a horror movie and I then felt too scared to stay home on my own so I ended up going to the class with them! After that I started attending the classes and soon after the instructor (who became my coach) opened his own gym and offered me a free membership if I cleaned the gym!”
What is your favourite aspect of exercise?
“The mental benefit, I feel I am a much better person after a workout.”
What is your favourite type of exercise?
“Handstand press ups and barbell cycling – going unbroken in a movement, for example, when doing cleans it becomes one continuous movement through the reps.”
What would be one piece of advice you would give to someone starting their fitness journey?
“ Do a little at a time, don’t go in all guns blazing!”
Your go to easy dinner?
“My favourite meal to prep in advance is bolognese and pasta and eat this throughout the week.”
When you lack motivation how do you not let that affect you?
“Discipline over motivation, I have a goal in mind and I know in order to get there I have to keep going.”
What is your main goal?
“To make it to the CrossFit games at some point in my athletic career, if I won that would make me the fittest woman on earth!!”
How are you working towards that goal?
“Keeping up with multiple styles of training and making sure to eat lots of nutritious meals, that doesn’t mean I don’t still enjoy going out with friends for meals!”
How do you like to spend your down time?
“Either watching youtube or spending time with my boyfriend and friends”
Who inspires you?
“Katrin Davidsdottir, Mal O’brien”
